"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God"
Romans 5:1-2
The reason we are not condemned in our sin is because we are justified. That means we have been declared just. Not that we are not guilty, we are. We deserve many times over to be rejected and condemned. We come to God empty handed. "What could a beggar give to a king?" as the old song says. With no merit and deserving nothing, we come to God to seek salvation. We see and know that He is able to save us. We believe and come asking relying solely on the mercy of God and upon His grace. We cannot come with a list of good traits, or submit a resume’ hoping for final approval. It is by His grace alone: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9. God begins, in His mercy to deal with our hearts, and begins to show us our lost condition. He also points to the One who has paid the price so that He could offer us salvation full and free. The condition? We must believe what he is telling us, and call on Him alone for salvation trusting in His promises to save. When we do that, we are justified and Christ’s righteousness is imputed to us.
Salvation brings peace. Peace in our heart, and more importantly, peace with God. A relationship with Jesus that saves, will bring us into a blessed peace with God. What a wonderful blessing to be at peace with the creator of the universe, and the One whom made each one of us the individual that we are.
But God does not just save us to let us drift in uncertainty. He makes Himself available to us night and day, day in, day out, week after week, month after month, and all the way down the road right out into eternity. We have access to the throne. We have access to an unlimited supply of grace. Grace for every trial and trouble and heartache. Grace for every day, every witness, every mission, every direction that God would lead us to follow. If you think the mountain is too high to climb….we have access to grace and strength that never runs short.
Lastly, we have something to celebrate. We have a blessed hope of the glory of God, and the hope of eternal salvation in Him. We can rejoice in Him and in knowing and glorifying Him forever. We do not have to walk around with long, somber faces in this world, we can look to a bright tomorrow and have joy in the knowledge that we have a home in heaven, and nothing can take that away.
Praise Him and Bless His holy Name.
